New paywall integrated into existing system retaining subscriptions

Goal

To develop a new paywall and add an archive subscription.

Obstacle

Variety’s previous paywall was developed as part of a monolith.

Solution

• We developed the new paywall connected to the core via API and removed the old one.
• A counter tracks a number of the articles read by users and displays a notification upon reaching the limit.
• The unsubscribed users can read only a section of the article.
