Analytics processing for media company improved and data loading speeded up 24 times
Goal
To optimize a web app for collection visitor and user interaction statistics:
- to increase the speed of data collection and visualization according to preset parameters;
- to make it feasible to create new forms of graphs and diagrams without engaging developers.
Obstacle
Moving to the new services was complicated by the lack of test environment.
Solution
We converted from working directly with data to integrating with Looker big data analytics platform and migrated data to Snowflake to speed up processes and lower storage costs.
An important condition for the successful project completion was the preservation of the current UI/UX to incorporate the changes seamlessly for users. The optimization enabled to set what data to show for Looker to visualize and display it in the familiar user interface. In addition, this integration allowed data analysts to add new charts, reports, and graphs on their own. Migrating data to Snowflake made it possible to speed up processes and reduce storage costs.
As a result, content statistics began to load 24 times faster, and the cost of using the infrastructure decreased by 75%.
